The whole thing. Frontend, the backend Base44 hides, your database and every record, functions, users, integrations, secrets, SEO, automations, AI. Base44 hides the backend that actually runs your app. I rebuilt that backend — and managed to extract everything they store — so the migration brings all of it onto accounts you own, and your app runs exactly as before.

It depends on your app — you see the exact price right after you log in, before you pay anything. It's one-time: no subscription, nothing recurring. The providers you deploy to may also cost — though for most apps it's free. You see all the details and can pick providers during setup. To keep building with the AI editor: you get free credits to start there, and when you run out you can pay to top up. Again, no subscription.

Really escaping. After the migration you own your project and can forget about me — everything lands on accounts you own, with the full code in your GitHub, and you can keep building with Claude Code / Cursor / a developer / whatever you like. If EscapeBase44 vanished tomorrow, your app keeps running untouched. Nothing routes through me. The keep-building AI is optional, with no subscription: use it, ignore it, or swap in any other tool whenever you want. Escape does mean escape.

A ZIP — or Base44's GitHub export — doesn't have the whole app. The backend, database, configs and everything that actually runs your app stay locked on Base44's servers, where no export reaches. So the migration logs in with your account and pulls it all directly — using nothing but your own login, and only the app you point it at.

I'm not a lawyer, but Base44's terms state that your project belongs exclusively to you. The migration only touches your own app — the one you log in and pick — with your own access, never anything of Base44's. No hacking, no grey area: it's your code and your data moving to your accounts.

You don't need to trust me. Payment runs through PayPal, so you can dispute it and get your money back anytime. And the migration is money-back guaranteed: if anything goes wrong, you're refunded immediately. The whole thing runs under NDA. The Base44 Refugees Discord is full of people who've already migrated — ask them directly.

No downtime. The migration only reads from your Base44 app — it never changes it — so your live app keeps running untouched the whole time, while the migrated version comes up separately on your own setup. Nothing changes for your users: they sign in and use it just like before. And there's no forced cutover — your Base44 app stays live, so you can take your time, check everything over, and switch across at your own pace, pointing your domain at the new app only when you're ready.

Absolutely. Your app moves straight from Base44 into accounts only you control — a private GitHub repo, your own database, your own hosting. Your code and data are never kept anywhere but those accounts; the migration just passes them through. The provider keys you enter are stored encrypted, and the whole thing runs under NDA. Once it's done your app sits on the standard infrastructure real production apps run on, and is as secure as them — more than it was before. Also, all your app's security settings on Base44 are replicated as is.

You don't have to wait. Migrating doesn't freeze your app — you can pick up right where you left off and keep building, the same way you would on Base44. So there's no 'finished' point you need to reach first: migrate now and keep developing on your own setup, or carry on building on Base44 and move later. It works the same either way — whatever fits how you like to work.

Undoubtedly yes. I built the migrator for the messiest, most advanced apps and tested it against deliberately brutal ones. Hundreds of pages, hundreds of backend functions, realtime, AI agents, quirky integrations, millions of database records — anything goes. I've had worse.

Yes — Base44's 'mobile' apps are really just web apps, so they migrate and run exactly as before. The store part is covered too: every migrated app comes mobile-ready, with one-click builds for the App Store and Google Play (no Mac needed), a Google sign-in that works inside the app, and Apple/Google in-app purchases wired in — the things Base44's wrapper can't do.

Yes. Apple and Google require their own billing for digital goods inside apps — the exact thing Base44 doesn't support, which is why finished Base44 apps sit in the stores unable to charge. Migrated apps come with Apple/Google in-app purchases built in: create your products in the store consoles, tell the AI builder what they unlock, and the app charges through the real store payment sheet. Subscriptions and one-time unlocks both work, and every purchase is verified by your own backend.

Yes. You choose the region your app and data live in during setup. This works for the EU for GDPR, or anywhere else you prefer.

It can, now that you own the server. On Base44 every page loads as an empty shell that only fills in after the browser runs it, the part Google can't read. On your own server you serve real HTML for each page. Most pages do that out of the box; dynamically generated ones — like auto-published blog posts — need a bit of setup so each gets its own real page Google can read.

Yes. Your integrations, webhooks and secrets migrate along with everything else. Anything that relies on an outside service — AI, storage, email — stops routing through Base44 and goes through your own providers instead.

Yes — pick the HIPAA-ready option when you choose your setup. Your app, its database, files and functions move onto your own AWS account, email goes out through it too, and AI runs on your own OpenAI key. Each is covered by that provider's BAA — and after the migration we walk you through signing them, click by click. Nothing routes through Base44 or EscapeBase44.

The migration moves your Base44 app as-is onto infrastructure you own. As-is means it won't convert it to other languages or stacks: Base44 runs on MongoDB, so it can't run on Supabase; it uses Python for backend, so it can't go on WordPress or cPanel. Doing any of that would compromise the perfect replication. And you usually don't need it anyway — you get the perks of those platforms, just packaged differently: full SEO control without WordPress, full control of your data and server without Supabase or cPanel. If you want other providers than the ones supported, though, it may still be possible. For hosting, there's a Custom VPS option: point it at any server and it deploys straight there. If there's still a provider you want that isn't supported, do let me know.

No. It works on any Base44 plan, free tier included. The migration goes through your normal Base44 login — there's no tier to be on or upgrade to first.

Yes, as many as you like — one at a time. Your second app is 25% off and every app after that is half price, and since it remembers the provider accounts you set up, the next ones go quicker too.

Yes. After you migrate you can keep building with AI just like you do on Base44: tell it what you want, watch the preview change, publish when you're happy — on the app you now own. So there's no need to 'finish' on Base44 first — migrate whenever and keep going. Don't want the AI? Your code's in a GitHub repo you own — edit it yourself, point Claude or Cursor at it, or hand it to a developer.

You get $20 credits to start, then you can top up as many as you'd like — you literally type whatever amount you want. You're not committed to any subscription plan or anything like that. Pricing is per AI use: if a request is a quick question it'd cost much less than a request that sends the agent for an hour. To give a sense: These $20 should easily get you dozens of back-and-forth calls. And of course, you don't have to use it at all.

No — it's a one-time move, not a live sync. It's meant to give you a fully independent app of your own. You don't lose the workflow, though — you can keep building exactly the same way you did on Base44, just on your own app instead of theirs.

The exact stack Base44 runs: a React frontend (your original code) and a Python/FastAPI backend that replicates Base44's own, on a MongoDB database. It's a completely standard setup — what real production apps are built on — so any developer can pick it up. And it all lives on accounts you own: your hosting (Vercel, AWS or Hetzner), your own MongoDB Atlas, and a private GitHub repo with the full code.

No — you don't depend on them, and yes, you can fully cancel. Your migrated app runs on your own stack: your code is unchanged, it just routes everything to your own Base44-compatible server instead of theirs. The one transitional bit is password-forwarding — passwords can't leave Base44, so each user's first login passes through it once to capture theirs, and every login after is fully yours. So cancel your subscription right away; just don't delete the Base44 app itself until your users have each logged in once.

Yes, absolutely. As a developer myself it was my top priority to make development easy and unconstrained — the AI builder is just an option. You get a normal codebase in a private GitHub repo you own, heavily documented with an elaborate README (and AGENTS.md & CLAUDE.md pointing at it) so you, your developers, Claude Code, Cursor, or anyone else can pick it up instantly and easily. Your GitHub is already wired with auto-deployment to your providers, so push to main and your app updates. You also get a guide on running your app locally, so really the entire development process is first-class — arguably better than it was on Base44.

Yes. Your domain stays where you bought it — you just point it at the migrated app, and the post-migration page walks you through the exact records to change.

Yes — same idea as the migration: your stuff stays yours. The builder just wraps your own project and builds it through your own GitHub, exactly like a developer editing by hand would. Everything it does goes through and stays on your own GitHub — nothing hidden, just the real, complete code. So you can keep building anywhere else whenever you want, or roll back anything it did.
